A red rock wonderland. Visit Arches and discover a landscape of contrasting colors, landforms and textures unlike any other in the world. The park has over 2,000 natural stone arches, in addition to hundreds of soaring pinnacles, massive fins and giant balanced rocks. This red rock wonderland will amaze you with its formations, refresh you with its trails, and inspire you with its sunsets.
Les Arches National Park contains one of the largest concentrations of natural sandstone arches in the world. The fanciful names at Arches National Park -Fiery Furnace, Three Gossips, Marching Men, Dark Angel- don’t do justice to the otherworldly rock formations they denote. Towers, domes, balanced rocks, and arches have been formed over millions of years of weathering and erosion, and the process continues, constantly reshaping this fantastical rock garden. Plants at Arches are adapted to the hot, dry environment of the high desert, and the wildlife here is mostly nocturnal. Native Americans first lived on this land, leaving behind petroglyphs still visible today.
