Canyonlands National Park

Canyonlands National Park stands as the largest and most rugged of all of Utah’s parks. The three sections of Canyonlands, Island in the Sky, the Maze, and the Needles, divided by the Green and Colorado rivers, are primitive worlds so vast that even with repeated exploration they will never give up all of their secrets.

On its way through remote Canyonlands National Park, the Colorado River carries loads of rock away each century, subtly but continually changing the makeup of Canyonlands National Park. The Colorado meets the Green River here, and the Y shape they create slices the park into the three above mentioned distinct sections : a broad mesa, a canyon labyrinth, and a landscape of pinnacles. Few paved roads enter the park; hikers and those with four-wheel drive vehicles may catch a glimpse of coyotes, bighorn sheep, bobcats, or golden eagles.
